Since its initial conception, the Losail International Circuit - located just outside Doha in the Persian Gulf State of Qatar - has impressed and gained respect among motorcycle racing’s elite. Built in just under a year by 1000 workers, the track opened in 2004. A first in Qatar, Losail International Circuit brought the exciting world of motorcycle racing to the entire Middle East. It currently hosts 2 international world championships a year as well as many other exciting events throughout the year. The 5.4km racetrack is the third longest in the world, exceeded only by Sepang (Malaysia) and Assen (The Netherlands). Surrounded by artificial grass to stop the sand encroaching onto the track, the Losail International Circuit features a total of 16 turns, and its stands can house close to 8,000 spectators.
