Fabrizio seventh at Phillip Island test

Team Suzuki Alstare rider Michel Fabrizio ended the two day tests in Phillip Island with the seventh quickest overall time, but felt he could’ve gone much faster. Throughout the two days, which took place in a variety of weather conditions, Michel suffered from front end chatter and was unable to push as hard as he would’ve liked. More time on a softer front tyre would’ve helped but, as that was not a possibility, he just had to soldier on and do the best he could.

Michel upbeat despite lack of track time due to bad weather

The first official WSBK tests of the 2011 season at the Autodromo do Algarve, in Portimao, were blighted by poor weather throughout the three days. And so Suzuki Alstare and the rest of the teams present were unable to carry out as much work as expected.

The cold temperatures meant that once the rain had fallen the track never fully dried out and so all the fast times were set on day one - the only dry track time of the three days. Team Suzuki Alstare rider Michel Fabrizio started the tests with his GSX-R1000 more or less as it was in the previous tests in November and he and the team continued to work on getting a good feeling with the bike before pushing hard.

Best wishes for 2011 !!!

Let this New Year bring peace, happiness, unity and humanity everywhere!

Thank you all again for your support in the past year !! See you in 2011 for a new challenge !!

Haslam voted rider of the year by journalists

Leon Haslam was presented with the "Rider of the Year" award at Thursday night's Guild of Motoring Writers annual dinner and awards evening at the RAC Club in Pall Mall, London.

Weather hampers progress for Team Suzuki Alstare

Despite bad weather throughout the two days of tests in Portimao, Team Suzuki Alstare rider Michel Fabrizio left the track in a positive frame of mind and happy with his continuing understanding of the GSX R1000 bike and his new team.

Fabrizio returns!

Former Alstare rider Michel Fabrizio has rejoined the team and will spearhead their attack on the 2011 Superbike World Championship next year. Michel is no stranger, having raced for Team Alstare Suzuki Corona Extra in the 2003 European Superstock Championship, taking four wins and winning the title in the process.

Leon - Vice champion!

Although Imola saw Team Suzuki Alstare rider Leon Haslam unable to take the fight for the 2010 Superbike World Championship to Magny-Cours , it did however confirm that he would be vice champion. No matter how the results ended in Magny-Cours, third placed Jonathan Rea could not have got anywhere close to Leon’s points tally and so runner-up spot was assured.

Leon takes superb podium in race 1. Sylvain just misses out in race 2.

The title might already have been decided but Suzuki Alstare riders Leon Haslam and Sylvain Guintoli gave everything they had at Magny-Cours today and acquitted themselves very well. Leon fought his way to runner-up spot in the first race after a battling up from seventh on lap 1.

Superb Sylvain misses Superpole by a whisker!

Team Suzuki Alstare rider Sylvain Guintoli missed out on a fairy tale ‘home’ Superpole victory by the narrowest of margins at Magny-Cours today. The Frenchman was battling it out with Cal Crutchlow (Yamaha) and Jakub Smrz (Aprilia) in final Superpole, but lost out to Crutchlow by just 69/1000 of a second in the one of the most dramatic sessions of the season.

Work to be done, but times close.

Team Suzuki Alstare riders Leon Haslam and Sylvain Guintoli know that there’s more to be done after they ended the first day of qualifying at Magny-Cours with the 10th and 14th quickest lap times. Leon’s tenth place was just over three tenths of a second off pole and Sylvain is half a second adrift on a day that saw the top sixteen riders separated by lees than a second.

Team Alstare announcement

Team Alstare hereby would like to inform the international media that Leon Haslam has been released from his
two-year contract with the team.

For the past six weeks Team Alstare has been waiting for an answer from its principal partner regarding the team's future..

Leon's title hopes end with a bang!

The second race of this year’s Superbike World Championship saw the end of Suzuki Alstare rider Leon Haslam’s hopes of taking the title fight to the last round in Magny-Cours next weekend.
Leon started race two in second place, behind fellow countryman Tom Sykes (Kawasaki) and was battling with the lead group after seven laps, but then went in a bit too hot at the final chicane and had to go across the gravel trap. He rejoined the track in sixth place and was fighting his way up again, when suddenly the rear of his bike was enveloped in a cloud of smoke. As soon as it happened, Leon knew his race was over and also his hopes of taking the title fight to the last round next weekend. It was the first time a Suzuki Alstare engine had blown up in seven years and a shame that it happened today!
