Alstare at Goodwood
For the third year running, Team Alstare Suzuki attended the prestigious Goodwood Festival of Speed, near Chichester, UK. This annual event regularly attracts over 200,000 petrolheads and race fans who are able to get close to the bikes, cars and stars in a very relaxed and open situation. This year, Yukio mixed with the likes of multiple world champion Mick Doohan as well F1 legends such as Lewis Hamilton, Jensen Button and former racers Stirling Moss, John Surtees and Damon Hill.
The cars are timed up the famous hill climb course, with some taking the run through Lord March’s country estate more seriously than others, but the bikes are not. They are there instead to put on a show for the fans and so wheelies and burn-outs are the order of the day. Yukio is one of the most popular bike racers at the show and is a big favourite with British fans, thanks to his years in the British Superbike Championship, and he is always in demand for autographs. On Saturday night Yukio changed from one (leather) suit to another (a tuxedo) to attend the special party hosted by Lord March. Champagne and wine flowed all night, but Yukio was as fresh as a daisy when he did his two runs up the hill on Sunday.
