The Rock in Rio Festival is the world’s largest rock festival and originally started off in Brazil in 1985, when an estimated 1.5 millions fans attended the event. Since then, Rock in Rio has taken place in Brazil (1991 and 2001) and in Portugal (2004, 2006 and 2008) and has showcased artists such as AC/DC, Queen, Iron Maiden, Rod Stewart, Yes, George Michael, Guns N’Roses, Prince, Santana, R.E.M, Neil Young and Paul McCartney to name but a few.

This year’s Rock in Rio in Madrid started at the end of June and continues for three days in July (4,5 and 6) and features Shakira, Amy Winehouse, The Police, Lenny Kravitz, Franz Ferdinand plus others. The action takes places over three stages specially built on a 20-hecatre site at Arganda del Ray, 20 kilometres from Madrid.

After Rock in Rio, in Madrid, Fonsi’s helmet will be auctioned for “the better world” charity.
