Many times this season, the two Suzuki Alstare riders have suffered mixed fortunes on the first day of qualifying and today at the Miler Motorsport Park was no exception. Leon qualified a comfortable fourth fastest, but Sylvain struggled and ended the day a lowly seventeenth.

Team Suzuki Alstare riders Leon Haslam and Sylvain Guintoli have their own reasons for wanting to do well in the seventh round of this year’s Superbike World Championship at the Miller Motorsports Park, near Salt Lake City in Utah. After his superb performance in the last round in Kyalami, Leon is fired up and ready to claim another pair of podiums and make up for last year in MIller, when he finished 10th in race one and DNF’d in race two.

Team Suzuki Alstare rider Leon Haslam is not only still on top of the world, but in Kyalami today he extended his championship lead over his closest rival to fifteen points. Leon didn’t achieve his third in race one and tremendous win in race two though a fight though. Race two was particularly dramatic and action-packed and was one of the best battles of the season so far.

Team Suzuki Alstare rider Leon Haslam battled away to the fifth fastest time in Superpole today and will start tomorrow’s pair of 24-lap races from the second row of the grid. Although he would’ve liked a front row grid place, his position on the grid is well-placed for an attack into the first turn and he is prepared for what promises to be yet another action-packed raceday.

Leon finished a comfortable fifth, but Sylvain could only manage 17th. But this is Sylvain’s first visit to this technically and physically demanding track, so he has a big chance of improvement tomorrow.

The season so far is proving to be the most competitive since the series began in 1988 and every practice, qualifying and race has been closely contested.
