Normally this would take the form of a racers versus the media competition, but this time racers and media formed teams competing against other racers and media. Three riders from Alstare should have been taking part with Fonsi due to play with Max and two local journalists, and Yukio in a rival team, but Fonsi’s flight was late and so Team Alstare’s press officer was drafted in to fill Fonsi’s bowling shoes.
Our photos show the balletic grace of Yukio and Max, but behind that grace the desire to win was just as fierce as it is on track. Max admitted to have been bowling within the last couple of months, but judging by Yukio’s action it seemed more likely that he had probably been playing baseball recently!

At the end of the competition, Max, Alstare’s press officer and their two local journos team mates were mortified to find out that they had lost out on taking the bowling equivalent of the chequered flag by just one point! As in racing, sometimes the margin between victory and failure is just a whisker!
