He was charging after Crutchlow in second place, but then inherited runner-up spot when Crutchlow slid off at the first chicane. Corser (BMW) was in Leon’s wheeltracks for the last few laps, but Leon held him off to take his seventh podium of the season and maintain his championship lead. Leon’s team mate Sylvain Guintoli finished tenth in race one, but then improved in race two. He was on course for a terrific sixth place, but the smallest of mistakes in the last turn allowed Noriyuki Haga (Ducati) through. Max Biaggi (Aprilia) won both races today, with Yamaha team mates James Toseland and Cal Crutchlow taking second and third in race one.

Leon - Race 1: 4th, Race 2: 2nd
Today was a hard day and I’m happy to leave Monza still leading the title race. Max was strong here and I knew it was going to be tough pair of races. The podium in race two was very hard work, but I didn’t want to miss out on a podium today and kept battling away.
I had a really big ‘moment’ in race two and was way out of the saddle twice in the space of a fraction of a second. Somehow I stayed on the bike, but it was a very close thing! After Cal crashed, Troy kept me on my toes, but Max was too far in front for me to catch so I just made sure of runner-up spot. I did something to my wrist when I had my ‘moment’ and it felt pretty sore, but I managed to carry one to the end.
In race one, I lost contact with the leaders and then had a bit of a grip problem for the last four or five laps and couldn’t get out of the corners as fast as I wanted. We made some little suspension changes (just a few clicks here and there) for race two and the bike was definitely better to ride.

Sylvain - Race 1: 10th, Race 2: 7th
Generally the weekend has ended not so badly. I enjoyed the second race because I was involved in a really good fight with Nori (Haga) and Tom (Sykes). I managed to pass Nori right towards the end, but then I made a very small mistake in the last turn and he got me back.
Seventh is not so bad after how the weekend began, but I have learnt that I (or me and my team) have to manage practice and qualifying better and get into a good, consistent rhythm as soon as we can. Not doing that means a low grid position and this championship has so many good riders and bikes that you cannot afford to be way down the grid if you want to be a contender.
I think I probably could’ve got fifth today if it hadn’t been for a crash right in front of me on the opening lap. I had to take avoiding action and go straight on at the first chicane and lost time in the process. But I fought hard and caught up the guys ahead, before my good battle with Tom and Nori. I am happy with my performance in race two and now I want to build on that and be much better at the start of a race weekend.

CON L'OTTIMO PODIO IN GARA DUE LEON MANTIENE LA TESTA DEL CAMPIONATO!

Dopo un quarto posto nella prima manche, il pilota del Team Suzuki Alstare Leon Haslam nella seconda manche ha combattuto con le unghie tra i denti ed ha ottenuto il podio. Mentre stava lottando con Crutchlow per la seconda
posizione,Crutchlow è caduto alla prima chicane lasciando il posto in eridità a Leon.
Corser (BMW) era in scia a Leon negli ultimi giri, ma Haslam non lo ha fatto passare ottenendo il settimo podio della stagione e mantenedo così la vetta della classifica.
Il compagno di Leon, Sylvain Guintoli è arrivato decimo in gara uno, migliorandosi poi in gara due. Mentre era in lotta per un fantastico sesto posto ha commesso un piccolo errore all'ultimo giro che ha permesso a Noriyuki Haga (Ducati) di passarlo.
Max Biaggi (Aprilia) ha vinto entrambe le gare di oggi, mentre i compagni di squadra della Yamaha James Toseland e Cal Crutchlow hanno preso il secondo e terzo posto in gara uno.

Leon - Race 1: 4th, Race 2: 2nd
Oggi è stata una dura giornata e sono felice di lasciare Monza ancora in testa alla classifica. Max era forte qui e sapevo che sarebbe stata dura in entrambe le gare. Il podio in gara due è stato un faticoso lavoro, ma oggi non volevo perderlo e nemmeno la testa.

Ho avuto un momento veramente forte in gara due, sono stato sbalzato dalla sella per due volte nello spazio di una frazione di secondo. In qualche modo sono rimasto sulla moto, ma ci sono andato molto vicino!
Dopo la caduta di Cal, Troy mi seguiva a ruota, e Max era troppo lontano, impossibile riprenderlo così ho preferito la seconda posizione.
Mentre stavo cadendo mi sono fatto male al polso e avevo abbastanza dolore ma sono riuscito ad arrivare alla fine.
In gara uno ho perso il contatto con i primi e poi ho avuto un problema di grip negli ultimi quattro cinque giri e non riuscivo più ad uscire dalle curve veloce come avrei voluto. Per gara due abbiamo fatto alcuni piccoli cambiamenti alle sospensione(pochi clic qui e là) e la moto era decisamente meglio da guidare.

Sylvain - Race 1: 10th, Race 2: 7th

In generale il week-end non è poi finito così male. Mi è piaciuta gara due, soprattutto la lotta con Nori (Haga) e Tom (Sykes). Sono riuscito a passare Nori a destra, verso la fine, ma poi ho commesso un errore molto piccolo all'ultimo giro e mi ha ripassato.

Da come è iniziato il week-end settimo non è poi così male, ma devo imparare ( io ed il Team) a gestire meglio le prove e trovare il ritmo il prima possibile. Non farlo significa una posizione bassa in griglia e in questo campionato dove ci sono molti piloti e moto buone non ci si può permettere di essere in fondo alla griglia se si vuole essere un contendente.
Penso che probabilmente avrei potuto fare quinto se non ci fosse stato un incidente proprio davanti a me al primo giro. Per evitarli sono dovuto andare dritto alla prima chicane e così ho perso tempo. Ma ho lottato e sorpassato e raggiunto Nori e Tom con cui ho combattuto. Sono contento della mia prestazione in gara due e ora voglio partire da questo iniziando molto meglio i week-end di gara.
