Suzuki Alstare wishes Yukio the best

Yukio joined Alstare in 2005 and since then has taken part in 116 races for them. 2005 was a superb year for him and team mate Troy Corser, who went on to take the title - Suzuki’s first in World Superbike history. Yukio finished fifth that year, but with a bit more luck, it would’ve been higher.
Yukio is known as one of World Superbike’s toughest competitors and is renowned for his determination and aggression on the track. Away from the track though, he is one of the nicest guys around and always ready for a bit of fun. When he joined Alstare, he immediately became part of the ‘family’’, choosing to live close to the workshop in Belgium so that he could be fully involved on a day to day basis.
Whilst this season and last have not been the best for Yukio, his determination to succeed has never faltered and one thing is for sure... when it comes to raceday, he always gives 100%. Suzuki Alstare would like to thank Yukio for his hard work and effort throughout the five years and wish him all the best in the BSB next year.

Troy Corser on Yukio

Yukio was one of my better team mates and we always got along well together. We had a lot of respect for each other and I enjoyed the two years we were team mates. His experience with Suzuki, especially with Suzuki Japan, was very valuable and I’m sure it helped the team a lot. He is a hard and aggressive rider (sometimes against me!), but it always fair.
We first worked together at a Phillip Island test at the start of 2005, I think, and our bikes were fairly close to each other in set-up right from the start. We shared information easily and I’m sure that was part of the reason for our success that year. Yukio was always very serious about his job as a racer, but away from the track we had a lot of good times together and a lot of fun, sometimes with his family and sometimes without. I would like to thank him for all the good times and wish him all the best in the BSB next year. He is very popular with the British fans and I’m sure he will be a contender for the title. He might get a ‘wild card’ ride at Donington next year, so I guess I haven’t seen the last of him!
