Beauty and the poise
During a World Superbike event, there are sometimes media events which are just plain fun. At the ninth round of this year’s WSBK Championship in Brno, a group of racers and media were invited to take part in a ten pin bowling competition held in a huge shopping complex on the outside of Brno.
Xavi disappointed with 5th
Team Alstare Suzuki rider Xavi Simeon left Brno circuit, disappointed to have finished fifth in today’s race.
No joy for Fonsi, Yukio or Max in Brno
Brno was neither a good round, nor a bad round, for Suzuki Alstare riders Fonsi Nieto and Yukio Kagayama and Alstare Suzuki rider Max Neukirchner.
Front row for Xavi
Team Alstare Suzuki rider Xavi Simeon posted the fourth quickest time in qualifying and will start tomorrow’s sixth round of this year’s Superstock 1000 FIM Cup on the front row of the grid.
Second and third rows for the Suzuki trio in Brno
Team Suzuki Alstare rider Fonsi Nieto finished seventh quickest in Superpole and will start tomorrow’s pair of 20-lap races from the second row of the grid.
Provisional front row for Xavi
Team Alstare Suzuki rider Xavi Simeon posted the third quickest lap in first qualifying at Brno today, behind provisional pole sitter Maxime Berger (Honda) and Claudio Corti (Yamaha).
Fonsi quickest of the Suzuki trio
Team Suzuki Alstare rider Fonsi Nieto finished the first day of qualifying at Brno today with the sixth fastest time and ended the quickest of the Belgium based squad.
Alstare at Goodwood
For the third year running, Team Alstare Suzuki attended the prestigious Goodwood Festival of Speed, near Chichester, UK. This annual event regularly attracts over 200,000 petrolheads and race fans who are able to get close to the bikes, cars and stars in a very relaxed and open situation. This year, Yukio mixed with the likes of multiple world champion Mick Doohan as well F1 legends such as Lewis Hamilton, Jensen Button and former racers Stirling Moss, John Surtees and Damon Hill.
Team Alstare refreshed and ready for Brno
One of the best-loved circuits on the calendar, Brno, is the scene for the next round of this year’s Superbike World Championship. The undulating circuit, situated in the Czech Republic is a demanding 5.503 kilometre track and will once again provide a stern test for all riders. Last year, Team Suzuki Alstare rider Yukio Kagayama took a superb third place in the first race and will be hoping for more of the same this weekend.
Xavi on the mend
Team Alstare Suzuki rider Xavi Simeon is on the mend after a successful operation to his broken collarbone last week. After the race in Misano, where Xavi finished a superb fifth despite riding with a left collarbone broken in three places, the young Belgian decided to have the operation at home instead of Italy.
Yukio back on the track
Team Suzuki Alstare rider and the team are back on the racetrack this weekend, but not in a World Superbike Championship event. Instead, Yukio and the team are at Goodwood for the famous Festival of Speed from 11-13 July.
Fonsi’s special edition helmet
At Misano last weekend, Team Suzuki Alstare rider Fonsi Nieto was wearing a special edition helmet to support the Rock in Rio festival in Madrid.
