Team Suzuki Alstare has been a keen supporter of the Festival of Speed and were once again represented this year, though a lot of logistical problems had to be solved in order to ensure their presence. At the start of the year, Goodwood fell, not wonderfully, but fairly neatly between the San Marino and Czech rounds of this year’s Superbike World Championship. But relatively recently, the organisers of the series decided to put on a two day test in Imola during the week after San Marino and that made life difficult for many of the WSBK teams who had agreed to attend Goodwood. In the end, because of the proximity of San Marino, Imola tests and Brno, it would have been virtually impossible for Team Suzuki Alstare to prepare a bike specially specially for Goodwood, so Leon Haslam provided a GSX R1000 of his own. The organisation was arranged by Leon’s fiancé Oli, together with Ann Haslam and the team’s press officer, together with the full support of Suzuki Alstare.

'I have done Goodwood before, so I already knew what a fantastic event it is, but this year was just amazing. The weather was unbelievably good and there were so many stars and cars and bikes of the highest level. It was a bit of a rush getting the bike ready in time, but it was worth it to go up the famous hill-climb course on a bike that looked more or less the same as my racebike.
Bikes are not timed up the hill, so we just put on a show for the fans and it is amazing how much they appreciate two wheels, even if they are car fans. The event is organised superbly and I want to say thank you to Lord March and his team for putting on the best combined two and four wheel event in the year and hope they invite me back next year.'

Nel corso degli anni, il Festival della Velocità di Goodwood è diventato uno degli eventi più importanti e prestigiosi del calendario degli sport motoristici.
Il Festival, iniziato non molto tempo fa come una sorta di evento per poche migliaia di fan, è ora cresciuto fino a raggiungere i 150.000 spettatori diventando un must-see per i petrolheads di tutto il mondo perché riunisce le stelle delle 2 e delle 4 ruote con mezzi da gara provenienti da tutte i periodi sportivi motoristici.
Il Team Suzuki Alstare è stato un acceso sostenitore del Festival della Velocita ed è stato ancora una volta presente quest'anno, nonostante una serie di problemi logistici che sono comunque stati affrontati e risolti per poter assicurare la loro presenza all'evento.
All'inizio dell'anno, Goodwood è stato fissato tra le tappe di San Marino e della Repubblica Ceca del Mondiale Superbike. Inoltre recentemente, gli organizzatori della serie hanno deciso di organizzare un test di due giorni a Imola durante la settimana dopo San Marino, il che ha reso la vita difficile per molte delle squadre WSBK che avevano accettato di partecipare a Goodwood.
Alla fine, considerata la vicinanza di San Marino, dei tests di Imola e di Brno, sarebbe stato virtualmente impossibile per il Team Suzuki Alstare preparare una moto speciale per Goodwood, così Leon Haslam ha partecipato con una sua GSX-R 1000.
L'organizzazione è stata curata dalla fidanzata di Leon, Oli, insieme ad Ann Haslam e all'addetto stampa del Team il tutto con il pieno supporto di Suzuki Alstare.

'Ho già partecipato al Festival di Goodwood in passato, quindi già sapevo che fantastico evento fosse, ma quest'anno è stato sorprendente.
Il tempo è stato incredibilmente buono e ci sono state tantissime stelle e macchine e moto di altissimo livello.

Abbiamo dovuto preparare la moto in tutta fretta, ma ne è valsa la pena e ho così potuto partecipare alla gara in salita su una moto molto simile a quella con cui gareggio nel mondiale Superbike.

Le moto non venivano cronometrate quindi ci siamo impegnati per offrire uno spettacolo ai fans ed è stato meraviglioso vedere quanto loro apprezzassero le 2 ruote nonostante fossero appassionati di auto.

L'evento è stato organizzato in modo superbo e voglio ringraziare Lord March e il suo Team per aver dato vita al miglior evento che ha combinato insieme le 2 e le 4 ruote e spero mi invitino nuovamente l'anno prossimo'
