I am absolutely delighted to get my first Superpole victory but the results in the races tomorrow are more important. Sitting in the garage watching the other guys go round in final Superpole and seeing their times falling was more nerve-racking than being out on the track and riding and it was a great relief when it was over. When we use qualifying tyres I have to use a slightly different riding style then when I am on race rubber.
Today once again we concentrated on getting a good race set up and did a lot of time on race rubber getting ready for raceday. From previous data we knew there was a certain way of working at this track to keep progressing and we did that rather than just chase any lap times.
My aim is to be in the first three in the first eight or nine laps and that will put me in a good position a good position at the end of the race. It is not what you can do in the first five laps, it’s what you do in the last five laps here that is most important
Although this is my first race weekend with the team, everyone is working together fantastically well. I have felt at home here at Suzuki Alstare since the very first time we tested and the boys have made my life easy.

I thought I had done enough to get on the front row, but then I lost the position right at the end of final Superpole. It’s a bit disappointing because it would’ve been nice to be on the front row near my team mate and it would’ve been great for the team. But row two is OK and as long as I get good starts, I think I can get good results.
The important thing though is that I am really happy with the bike and how everything is going at the moment. I used race rubber in Superpole 1 and than qualifying tyres in Superpole 2 and 3. I feel very comfortable on race tyres and I am enjoying myself here.
Today we started with the same base set-up as yesterday and just made minor adjustments throughout the day. Also, I tried to improve the way I ride the bike and get more out of it, but I am just so happy at the moment and cannot wait for the races.

LEON INIZIA CON UNA VITTORIA in SUPERPOLE!

Il pilota del team Suzuki Alstare Leon Haslam ha conquistato oggi la sua prima vittoria in Superpole a Phillip Island, dopo essere stato costantemente tra i primi due o tre durante le prove e le qualifiche. Il giovane britannico ha fatto un giro infuriato ottenendo 1:31.229, più veloce di mezzo secondo del record sul giro in Superpole 3, davanti a Michel Fabrizio (Ducati) e al collega britannico Cal Crutchlow (Yamaha). per un bel po' embrava che il suo compagno di squadra Sylvain sarebbe stato con lui in prima fila, ma poi Crutchlow ha relegato il francese al quinto posto in seconda fila.

Sono assolutamente felice di aver ottenuto la mia prima vittoria in Superpole, ma i risultati nelle gare di domani sono più importanti. Stare seduto nel box a guardare gli altri ragazzi girare in Superpole e vedere i loro tempi era più snervante di essere in pista ed è stato un grande sollievo quando è finita. Quando usiamo le gomme da qualifica è necessario utilizzare uno stile di guida leggermente diverso di quando sono con gomme da gara.
Oggi, ancora una volta ci siamo concentrati su come ottenere una buona gara e ho fatto un sacco di giri con le gomme per essere pronto per la gara. Dai dati precedenti sapevamo che c'era un certo modo di lavorare su questa pista per migliorare e abbiamo fatto questo piuttosto che inseguire il tempo sul giro.
Il mio obiettivo è quello di stare tra i primi tre nei primi otto o nove giri , questo mi metterà in buona posizione alla fine della gara. Non è quello che si può fare nei primi cinque giri, ma è più importante ciò che si fa negli ultimi cinque giri.
Anche se questo è il mio primo weekend di gara con il team, tutti stanno lavorando insieme in maniera fantastica. Mi sono sentito a casa qui al Team Suzuki Alstare fin dalla prima volta abbiamo provato ed i ragazzi hanno reso la mia vita facile.

Pensavo di aver fatto abbastanza per arrivare in prima fila, ma poi ho perso una posizione al termine dell'ultima Superpole. E 'un po' deludente, perché sarebbe stato bello essere in prima fila vicino al mio compagno di squadra e sarebbe stato fantastico per il team. Ma la seconda fila è OK e, se parto bene , penso di poter ottenere buoni risultati.
La cosa importante è che mi sento bene con la moto e tutto va bene in questo momento. Ho usato gomme da gara in Superpole 1 e gomme da qualifica in Superpole 2 e 3. Mi sento molto tranquillo con le gomme da gara e mi diverto.
Oggi abbiamo iniziato con lo stesso set-up di base di ieri e abbiamo fatto solo piccoli aggiustamenti per tutta la giornata. Inoltre, ho cercato di migliorare il mio modo di guidare la moto e ottenere di più da esso, ma sono solo così felice in questo momento e non riesco ad aspettare che la gara.
